The New York Post reported on September 26, 2025, that Bethpage Black’s iconic warning sign has been removed as part of changes to the course for the Ryder Cup. Ryder Cup Director Bryan Karns stated the sign was taken down because it would have been underneath a new 5,000-seat grandstand constructed for the event. The grandstand required moving the first tee 40 yards forward, which would have obstructed the sign's original location.
The course itself has been set up to be more "open" than in past major championships. This approach to the match-play event is intended to produce more birdies and eagles. While the original sign is gone from the first tee, it has been temporarily relocated to the Ryder Cup Live Fan Zone at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan for photo opportunities. Replicas of the sign have been placed elsewhere on the course for spectators attending the tournament, which runs from September 26-28.
