On September 30, 2025, federal prosecutors in New York asked a judge to sentence Sean “Diddy” Combs to more than 11 years in prison, AP News reported. The recommendation follows the music mogul's conviction in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. In a sentencing memo, prosecutors requested a term of at least 135 months, describing Combs as "unrepentant" for his crimes. A jury had previously acquitted Combs of more severe charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, which could have resulted in a life sentence.
theguardian.com reported, The prosecution's request for a lengthy sentence contrasts sharply with the defense's position. Combs' lawyers have asked the court for a sentence of no more than 14 months, which, with time already served since his September 2024 arrest, could make him eligible for release soon. The charges stemmed from accusations that Combs arranged for male sex workers to have sexual encounters with his girlfriends. A federal judge is scheduled to make a final decision on the sentence on October 3, 2025.
