IGN reported on September 24, 2025, that developer Gearbox has indefinitely delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4, a decision made just over a week before the game's scheduled release. Alongside the delay, Gearbox has also cancelled all digital pre-orders for the title on the platform. The publisher did not provide a specific reason for the postponement of the Switch 2 version.
This decision comes as the developer addresses performance problems with the game's release on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The cancellation of pre-orders ensures that customers who had pre-purchased the game digitally will not be charged for the title. Gearbox has not provided a new release window for the Nintendo Switch 2 port.
