Nintendo Life reported that at Tokyo Game Show this week, Square Enix presented 17 minutes of gameplay for Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined and also showed footage of Octopath Traveler 0. gematsu confirmed the 17-minute Dragon Quest VII demo and noted an 18-minute presentation for Octopath Traveler 0 also occurred. Both role-playing games are planned for release on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined, a remake of the 2000 PlayStation title, will launch on February 5, 2026. The developer is streamlining the story for a faster pace, which includes removing three scenarios and other side content like the casino. To complement the cuts, a new Arena mode will be added as an endgame challenge. Octopath Traveler 0, a prequel to the original game, is inspired by the mobile title Champions of the Continent but has been reworked as a full console and PC release without mobile game mechanics. It introduces a town-building system and will be released on December 4, 2025.
