Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has been involved in high-level discussions about leading a post-war transitional authority in Gaza, the BBC reported on September 26, 2025. The proposal, which reportedly has support from the White House, would see Blair lead a governing body with backing from the UN and Gulf nations before handing control back to the Palestinians. Blair has participated in planning talks with US officials and other parties regarding Gaza's future. In August, he attended a White House meeting with President Trump to discuss plans for the territory.
winnmediaskn.com reported, The proposed body could be named the Gaza International Transitional Authority (Gita) and would seek a UN mandate to be the "supreme political and legal authority" for up to five years. This model is based on international administrations that oversaw transitions in East Timor and Kosovo. While Blair's office has not commented on the specifics, it stated he would not support any plan that displaced the people of Gaza. The discussions are part of broader international efforts to establish governance in Gaza after the conflict.
